Frequently asked questions

What happens when I make an appointment?
Your counsellor will get in touch for a brief chat about your needs, how we can help, and will schedule your first appointment.
Your first session may include a formal or informal assessment and plenty of discussion getting to know you and your needs. Different therapy models will be discussed to see which may suit you best.
How much counselling will I need?
It really does vary hugely! Some clients need just a few sessions while others may need 6-8-10. Others still need ongoing support for the foreseeable future.
Most clients schedule a counselling session on a once-a-week basis. Some clients may require more engagement and can schedule sessions 2-3 times per week. This is especially so during or around significant life events or changes.
What are the costs for NDIS clients?
If your NDIS plan includes Capacity Building (improved daily living) then you can claim counselling services.
There are no out of pocket costs for NDIS clients. In fact, our hourly rate is significantly lower than the NDIS allowance rate which means you’re able to keep funds aside for future support!
What exactly happens in a counselling session?
Counselling is a conversation. Your counsellor uses a range of specialist communication and analytical skills to best support you in addressing the challenges faced. They will ask lots of questions, suggest ideas, encourage examination of challenges from a range of perspectives, get you thinking and reflecting, empathise and manage the process with sensitivity, and be your number one supporter and advocate.
